Yakut holiday to become international

 The Board of the International Jew's Harp Society have supported a proposal for proclamingYakutia Khomus Day an international holiday.

Every year, on the initiative of President of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Yegor Borisov, Yakutia celebrates the Day of Khomus on November 30.

This idea was announced at the 8th International Jew's Harp Congress in Taucha (Leipzig, Germany), which was attended by Yakut delegation headed by Dmitry Glushko, the State Advisor of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Museum and the Center of the World Khomus.

Also during the congress, there were held elections to the board of the Society. Once again, the representative of Austria Franz Kumpl was elected the president, and Nikolai Shishigin, Director of the Museum of the World Khomus - General Secretary of the Society. The executive management od the Society includes representatives from Italy, Hungary, Canada, France and Russia, in particular, Kim Borisov, Head of the State Protocol Department, Ministry of Federal Affairs and External Relations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). On the initiative of the UK, the  Board of Directors has unanimously elected the honorary president of the Society - Ivan Alexeev, a master and founder of the Museum of the World Khomus.

The Congress saw a board meeting of the International Jew's Harp Society, where they adopted the basic directions of the Society and approved plans for the coming years. The Board have decided to hold the next festival in Moscow in 2017, informs the Press Service of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and External Relations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
