Yakutian cities to take part in International festival in Portugal

 From 15 to 22 October, the cities of Lisbon and Setubal (Portugal) will host the International Festival "Great prospects of small towns". It is the only large-scale event, involcing small historic towns of Russia and other countries.

The Sakha Republic will be represented by three towns: Srednekolymsk, Vilyuisk and Pokrovsk. The Festival will feature an exhibition and presentation of each of the participating towns and performances of artistic groups. According to the organizers, the rich history of these towns makes them really interesting participants.

The business program of the Portuguese Forum will include an international conference "Great prospects of small towns", a round table "Conservation and study of traditional folk culture", an international academic seminar to exchange experiences for managers of cultural institutions, a training workshop for urban managers and mayors "Strategy of managing a small town. Creating an image of the town".

The main goals of the Festival are: promoting investment potential of small historic towns, maintaining identity of the territories, raising public awareness, promoting the history, culture and traditions of small historic towns, promoting their tourism potential as a way to preserve the unique historical and cultural heritage, creating a positive image of Russia.

The Festival, organized by the International Cultural Center "Town Square" with the assistance of the Artistic Union of Compatriots in Portugal, has received the support of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Russian Cooperation (MFA), the Ministry of Regional Development, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the World Intangible Cultural Heritage (IOV), the Association of Indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East and other institutions.
