The Album “Road of great deeds. Significance of Yakutia in the Far East exploration” was presented in Harbin, China

The presentation of the album “Road of great deeds. Significance of Yakutia in the Far East exploration” has taken place in Harbin, China, within the framework of the first Russian-Chinese EXPO, as is reported by the Sakha News Agency at the Permanent Establishment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the Far-Eastern Federal District.

“The presentation of two volumes was held by the “Russky ostrov” publishing house. Previously this historic album was successfully presented in all federal subjects of the Russian Far East and caused a great interest of Chinese people”, - said the Permanent Establishment.

The book was awarded Gold Medal at the Far-Eastern Book Fair in 2014 for best printing quality and design, also Grand Prix at the 7th Interregional Book Fair “Printing works of Yakutia” in 2013.

The Permanent Establishment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the Far-Eastern Federal District had put forth an idea of producing such a book.

The editorial board consisting of competent experts of Yakutia, Amur River region, Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Magadan and Khabarovsk, headed by Georgy Nikonov, had worked on two-volume book. They are all members of Geographical Society of Russia.

The historic two-volume album was highly praised by the President of Geographical Society of Russia, Minister of Defense of the RF Sergey Shoygou who mentioned that “publishing the historic album “Road of great deeds. Significance of Yakutia in the Far East exploration” is a high-profile event for not only the Russian Far East but for all Far East and our multinational state as well”.

Popular-science essays and articles enforced by archive documents and extracts from fascinating memoirs of witnesses of the past illustrate the key idea that the advance of Russia to the Far East and the coasts of the Arctic and Pacific oceans through Siberia was really epoch making.

Historically, Yakutia had been playing an important role in Russian exploration of these vast territories for three centuries.

First Russian-Chinese EXPO under the slogan “New platform – new opportunities” is taking place from June 30 up to July 04, 2014.

The delegation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is headed by Gennady Vadyukhin, the First Vice-Chairman of the Government.  Yakutia is presenting investment projects in the sphere of agriculture, construction, innovation technologies and tourism.
