Mass-wrestling: rating is on the rise

A conference of the International Federation of Mass-Wrestling (IFM) headed by the President Alexander Akimov was held. The meeting took place the next day after the holding of I Stage of the Mass-Wrestling World Cup at the national holiday “Ysyakh” in Kolomenskoye.

Members of IFM Nikolay Kolodko and Vladislav Redkin, a representative of the Ukrainian Federation of Mass-Wrestling Olexander Lashin, the executive director of the All-Russian Federation of Mass-Wrestling Alexei Afanasief, an editor-commentator of radio and TV sports programmes Vasily Poselsky, the all-around champion of FEFD in mass-wrestling Maxim Rudenko and a member of AFM (All-Russian Federation of Mass-Wrestling) Presidium Elena Tomskaya took part in the work of the meeting.
On the whole, organization and holding of the International Tournament were assessed positively. The rainy weather in Moscow on that day certainly made its corrections, however, the whole judging panel headed by Nikolay Kolodko and participants of the competition demonstrated strong character. The first stage of the World Cup was held as usual according to the highest standards and in the presence of a large audience. Specialists of the Republican Centre of National Sports named after Vasily Manchaary did huge work under the most difficult conditions. The head of the Centre Innokenty Grigoriev took the situation under his personal control.
Let us remind that I Stage of the Mass-Wrestling World Cup bears the name “International Mass-Wrestling Cup Devoted to the Memory of the Olympic Champion Roman Dmitriev”. 18 strongest athletes from 9 countries took part in it.
The prize money came to 180,000 thousand rubles thanks to the sponsors: an entrepreneur Alexander Ammosov; OOO “Care” CEO Grigory Evseev; OOO “Proba Grand” CEO Alexander Kolodeznikov; a deputy of the Russian Federation State Duma Konstantin Ilkovsky; the director of the trading house “Pearl” Alexander Semenov.
The tournament was held with the support of the vice-president Dmitry Glushko and the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sport of the SR (Y) (A. G. Podgolov).
Alexander Akimov was left satisfied with the level of the competition, noted the rise of this sport rating in the world. He set new goals as well. Accordingly, on July, 6 the Absolute Mass-Wrestling World Championship will take place during the International Sports Forum “Russia Is a Sports Power”. Following the decision of the members of Federation administration not more than twenty athletes will participate in it – fourteen of them from abroad and six from Russian regions. Those athletes who performed well at the First stage in Kolomenskoye will receive personal invitations. Furthermore, the points they gained in Yakutsk will be taken into consideration in the final of the World Cup.
Nikolay Kolodko stated that the strongest sportsmen from Scandinavia, Central Europe and countries of North and South America must take part in the upcoming tournament. Vladislav Redkin was chosen the secretary general of the International Federation of Mass-Wrestling and Elena Tomskaya – the chief coordinator.
In conclusion Alexander Akimov added that next week he would hold a meeting on preparation of the coming Absolute Mass-Wrestling World Championship. He expressed his confidence in the fact that in the homeland of mass-wrestling, in Yakutia, the tournament will become one of the most impressive events of the ISF “Russia IS a Sport Power” and V ISG “Children of Asia”.
