A promotional tour "Diamond Week of Yakutia" is organized for tourists.

What does modern Yakutia associate with? The untouched nature of the Arctic, one-fifth of the territory of Russia, unique culture and traditions of its peoples, and, of course, diamonds.

This August the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Business and Tourism Development of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is organizing a tourist promotional tour “Diamond Week of Yakutia” which will take place in two cities of the Republic – Yakutsk and Mirny. As part of the program, tourists will be able to see the full cycle of production and processing of precious stones, will visit the famous pipe “Mir” and a sorting shop, pay a visit to lapidary factories and learn the process of making jewelry. Moreover, they will be able to try their hand in gem-cutting and take part in the manufacture of jewelry. The program also includes visits to the Natural Park “Living Diamonds of Yakutia”, museums and shops. And in the end everyone will be able to buy diamond jewelry at great discounts!
The purpose of this promotion action is enhancement and popularization of event tourism in the Far East and Baikal region under the name “Eastern Ring of Russia”, the expansion of the tourist season through event tourism, shaping of sustainable recognizable images of Yakutia.
The promotion action will start a new tradition – the annual run of “The Diamond Week", similar to the Green Week in Berlin, or the Fashion Week in New York, Paris and Milan. In the future this week might become a global forum for representatives of the jewelry industry, where agreements will be drawn and business issues resolved.

We will be like Monaco
Brand promotion is, first of all, closely associated with event tourism formation of recognizable and sustainable associations among potential tourists. Yakutia is known for its diamonds, but jewelry purchase points today are far away from the territory of Yakutia and even Russia. Global redistribution of income and the historical course of economic development have also contributed. Our Republic is to confirm the status of the treasury of Russia, a place where diamonds not only mined and qualitatively cut, turning bounties of nature into exclusive product made with unique fantasy of Yakutian masters, but also a place where they can be bought at a profit. All this should help to increase the number of tourists visiting our region as well as representatives of the press.
Boat Show in Monaco is a perfect example of event tourism, when the participants of the show leave a lot of money in stores, restaurants and local budget. Monaco is a small country and only due to such events a positive image of the country is formed and the economy is developed.

As part of the federal target program “Development of domestic tourism in Russia (2012-2016)” measures on the block “Promotion of the tourist product of the Russian Federation on the global and domestic tourist markets” are planned. The Federal Agency for Tourism is defined as FTP funding administrator. The Committee of the Federal Agency for Tourism for selection of measures aimed at promoting tourism product of the Russian Federation on the international and domestic tourism markets in the framework of the Federal target program “Development of domestic tourism in the Russian Federation (2011-2018)” has been established.
On August 17, 2011, in order to co-finance activities to promote tourism products of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), as part of the International Conference “Integrated Development of Infrastructure in the North-East of Russia," an agreement on cooperation in tourism was signed between the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Government of Yakutia. The agreement was signed by President of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Egor Borisov and Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Alexander Radkov. Agreement implementation plan was prepared in conjunction with the agency as well.
