Nikolay Kolodko Will Be Chief Referee of World Mas-Wrestling Championship

 September 9 Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Egor Borisov held a meeting of the organizing committee on preparation for World Mas-Wrestling Championship and III Congress of the International Federation of mas-wrestling in Yakutsk.

Over the past three years, the Yakut national sport of mas-wrestling has been widely recognized among global sports communities. More than 40 subjects of the Russian Federation and 38 countries around the world are ready to actively develop and popularize the sport, characterized by unpredictability, beauty and dynamism.

By decision of the II Congress of the International Federation of mas-wrestling, which was held in December 2013 in the United Arab Emirates, the first World Mas-Wrestling Championship will be held November 28 – 30, 2014 in the city of Yakutsk. This decision was coordinated with the leadership of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and became one of the mechanisms for implementing the orders of Vladimir Putin on the development and support of the national sports of Russia.

Currently, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and External Relations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has been closely working on the possibility of holding the Championship under the patronage of UNESCO.

According to Minister of Sports Mikhail Gulyaev, 32 countries are ready to take part in the championship. Among them there are such exotic countries as Benin, the Philippines, Madagascar, New Zealand, Australia and Brazil - the 2016 Olympic Games host.

Sports Minister also added that Honored Coach of Russia, Master of Sports of international class and multiple Absolute Mas-Wrestling Champion of Yakutia Nikolay Kolodko is going to be Chief Referee of the Championship.
