Yakutia craftsman won at the International Exhibition of Knives

From October 31 to November 4, Moscow hosted the International Exhibition-Fair Blade - Traditions and Modernity. Yakutia was represented by blacksmiths Saryal Bilyukin, Stas Balitsky, Mikhail Baishev, and a store of Yakutian knives Uus - Expo with products of other Yakutian blacksmiths.

The exhibition held a competition for the best knives revealing in the following categories: Curving Knives, Works of Art and Folding Knives.

Saryal Bilyukin, the blacksmith from Ytyk-Kyuyel village of Tattinsky ulus, took the first place in the category Best Art Knife for his work The Spirit of the Lake. The composition was made at a very high level. Its handle was made of mammoth bone with silver inserts; a blade was made of Damascus steel; sheath was made ​​of horsehair. Every detail was performed in Yakutian national traditions.
