Yakutsk celebrates the Day of Older Persons

On October 1 – 10, Yakutsk is holding events devoted to the International Day of Older Persons under the motto “We Praise the Golden Age”.

Traditionally, these days, Yakutsk is carrying out cultural events: concerts in retirement homes, theme evenings, festive concerts for older citizens in districts and suburbs, meetings of older generations with schoolchildren and youth, and provision of social services.

On October 1, the Deputy Head on Social Affairs, Evdokia Evsikova met with the Supreme Council of Yakutsk Elders in the District Administration of Yakutsk.

The Pension Fund and the Management of Social Protection and Labor of Yakutsk will hold open days, where older people will receive consultations on provided social services.

Open days will also be held in the city polyclinics. Older people, who have moving difficulties, will be provided home health care, which is especially important for them.

Besides, the elderly will be given social discounts at various institutions: cinemas “Cinema Center” and “Tsentralny” (“Central”), the National Art Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Exhibition Hall of the National Art Museum in Komdargmet building, the Gallery of Foreign Arts named after M. Gabysheva, the Museum of History and Culture of Northern Peoples named after E. Yaroslavsky, the Center for Study of Wushsu and Qigong “Heavenly river”, the Republican Center of National Sports named after V. Manchaary, etc.

During a month, veterans of the GPW and home front of Yakutsk Councils of Veterans will be offered preferential subscription to republican and city newspapers in city councils.
