NEFU students help flood affected Yakutian villages

The Rector of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov, Evgenia Mikhailova, received a letter from the administration of the municipality “Ust-Aldansky ulus” with a request to assist in reconstruction of the villages of Sottintsy, Khonogor and Ary-Tit. In spite of an examination period of students, the letter received an affirmative response.

NEFU students’ teams of five girls from the Medical Institute and 45 boys from different institutes and departments was working hard in the villages Sottintsy, Khonogor and Ary-Tit affected by the spring flooding.

The Ministry of Transport and Road Management of Yakutia provided them with buses and ferry crossing.

Students cleaned up streets, yard areas of rubbish, trees and ice floes. For three days they had been working from 8:00 am till 21:00 pm.

The second flow of NEFU students’ teams will go to Sottintsy on June 7.
