Female mammoth with fresh blood found in Yakutia

Expedition’s workers of the Research Institute of Applied Ecology of the North North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) and the Russian Geographical Society found a unique carcass of a female mammoth on the Lyakhovsky Islands of the Novosibirsk Archipelago.

According to scientists, animal tissue is almost in perfect condition, which is of particular interest for science.

It is determined that the animal has died at the age of 50-60 years. It is interesting that fragments of mammoth muscle tissue have a natural red color of fresh meat, as the head of the expedition Semyon Grigoriev says. This safety is due to the fact that the lower part of the body laid in a nearly pure ice, and the upper part was found in the middle of tundra.  At the present time experts are working with the carcass of a mammoth.
