Yakutia establishes State Committee on Arctic Affairs

 On August 18, Acting head of Yakutia Yegor Borisov signed a decree on establishing the State Committee for the Arctic Affairs. The new body will be responsible for the design and implementation of the state policy on development of the Arctic and Northern areas of the republic.

The new state committee will also focus on the development of traditional industries of the North, the organization and regulation of fisheries. It will employ 21 people.
