“Power of Siberia” Gas Pipeline to be observed from satellite


“Gazprom” is going to monitor the environmental situation on gas pipelines, including the "Power of Siberia" by using satellite imagery.


It is assumed that the new satellite system will enable to monitor gas leaking four times a day in a protected area. Also with the help of the system it will be possible to detect unauthorized construction projects, areas of forest fire and other incidents in proximity to the pipeline.


“Power of Siberia” - a project valued at 3.5 billion rubles, the development of which will be completed in the autumn of 2015. According to the plans of Gazprom, the gas pipeline “Power of Siberia” will be stretched from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia to Vladivostok, including the territory of the Amur region. Its length will be 3768 kilometers. The pipeline will run along the existing oil main of the Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean (ESPO) that will optimize the cost of infrastructure and energy, the "Amurskaya Pravda” newspaper reports.
